Julia BROCATO
Founder & Principal Designer
My name is Julia Brocato and I'm the founder and principal Designer here at Brocato Design + Co. I'm a graduate from Florida State University and spent a decade working professionally in the performing arts world. I lived in Los Angeles, New York City, and toured the country which exposed me to an incredible range of places, people, and creative influences that continue to inspire my designs today.
​
As a classically trained musician, I often equate design to that of a musical composition. The story, balance, harmony, movement, texture, dissonance and resolution of design all play an integral role in crafting a space that makes you actually feel something. My job is listening closely enough to understand what a space wants to become, who you want to become within it, and having the intuition and experience to bring it to life.
I founded Brocato Design + Co in 2015. Today, we create environments that feel grounded yet quietly unforgettable- the kind of spaces that become the center of conversation without ever trying too hard. That’s the art.
In addition to Designer, I’m the wife of a handsome Italian (who doesn’t speak a lick of Italian), a mama to 2 amazing sons, fur mama to another baby boy named Norman, a singer, and an avid pickleball player.

Melissa HEIDEN
Director of Operations
My name is Melissa Heiden and I am the Director of Operations here at BD+Co. I have a background in operations, human resources and account management with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. In my role I work closely with the design team, clients, vendors and industry partners to ensure that each project is thoughtfully managed and coordinated.
After stepping away from my professional career to focus on raising my family I am excited to return to the workforce. Joining BD + Co is an exciting opportunity to bring my professional experience into a creative environment centered around beautiful spaces, meaningful relationships and exceptional customer service.
Outside of work, I have been married to my husband since 2010, and my
favorite role has always been being a mom to our three incredible children.
Lauren VALENTINE
Social Media Manager
My name is Lauren Valentine, and I am the Social Media Manager here at BD+Co. I have a background in communications and a PR degree from VCU, which transfers perfectly into my role. I'm the gal capturing all of our digital content and sharing beautiful spaces for our social media platforms, as well as keeping our website up and running.

I absolutely love that my job is about connection and creativity. I truly enjoy capturing all parts of the design process and showing the journey from the “before” to the “after” of a project, plus all the behind-the-scenes action of life at BD+Co.
​ Outside of work, I am a passionate advocate for Type 1 Diabetes (my youngest son has T1D). I enjoy going on local and out-of-town adventures with my family and our overly- friendly Golden Retriever.
Fabiano ROSSINI
My name is Fabiano Rossini and I'm the lead of Installation here at Brocato Design + Co. Originally from Cordoba Argentina, I began studying electricity and electronics there and wired an entire house at the age of 15. I moved to the US in 2004 with my wife, Mariela, and our two daughters. From 2004-2010 I lived in Brooklyn, NY, learning handyman skills while working for a Home Improvement Company. There, I focused on Kitchen and Bath remodeling until 2010 when I moved to VA and went out on my own.

I enjoy working with Brocato Design + Co because they are organized, kind people and I like their creativity and professionalism. Juli makes everyone feel part of the team. She puts great and contagious energy into every project, and to see the happiness of her clients when they see the final project is priceless!

In my spare time I practice saxophone as well as some piano and violin. I enjoy riding my bike and going for walks with my dear wife of 25 years and our two sweet young ladies.
