This phase is where the home truly begins to take shape. Whether you are building a custom home or planning a full transformation of a newly built or spec property, the volume of decisions requires clarity and a cohesive point of view from the outset.
As a custom home interior designer in Northern Virginia, as well as serving Maryland and the DC metro area, our role is to guide those decisions thoughtfully, early, and with the entire home in mind.
STEP 01
Architectural Review
We begin with a detailed review of architectural plans, working alongside your architect and builder to evaluate layouts, built-ins, doorways, arches, fireplaces, lighting placement, outlets, and technology needs.
These foundational decisions shape how the home functions every day and are far easier to refine before construction begins.
STEP 02
Selection of the Details
From there, we move through full home selections, including plumbing fixtures, flooring and stairs, cabinetry and hardware, appliances, lighting, tile, countertops, paint, and trim. Each decision is made in relation to the next, ensuring the home feels cohesive rather than assembled in parts.
SPECIALIZATION
New Build and Spec Home Transformations
For these projects, we often rework and elevate the home beyond standard builder finishes. This may include reconfiguring kitchens, replacing flooring, refining lighting, introducing architectural details, and furnishing the home in a way that brings cohesion and intention throughout.
Because this work is planned early, the transition is seamless. There is no gap between construction and transformation, and no need to revisit decisions after move-in.
The result is a home that feels custom from the beginning, not adjusted over time.
FINAL PHASE
Furnishings as the Final Layer
Once the architectural framework and selections are complete, we move into furnishings, carrying the home through to completion.
This is where everything comes together. Spaces are layered, scaled, and finished in a way that allows the home to feel cohesive and complete.
